Born of Dene Suline and Saulteaux descent in 1935, Alex Janvier was raised in the nurturing care of his family until the age of eight. Janvier speaks of having a creative instinct from as far back as he can remember. Alex Janvier made an amazing career that spanned several decades. Alex's abstract style has always been highly influenced by his culture, his spirituality, and his connection with Mother Earth. In 2003 Janvier Gallery opened in the City of Cold Lake, but they have since moved to the Cold Lake First Nations 149B, north of the City of Cold Lake. At this gallery, you will find a great assortment of original works of art, art products, and some Alex Janvier prints. Although their appointments are self-guided, staff are always available to answer questions. Please call or email to book your appointment with them.
